I pretty much thought Jean Claude Van Damme was a dick. This was partly because he was rude to Sly on the phone, and partly because he just seemed like a self-important dick. It doesn’t help that he’s trying to do ‘dramatic’ films now. A) why would you want to and B) seriously Jean??
However, proving that all Action Heroes officially rock, Jean Claude has actually gone and done something very cool – he has arranged to fight in a kick boxing tournament against an Olympic Gold Medallist no less called Somluck Kamsing (catchy).
At over 50 this makes Jean Claude the oldest guy ever to do K1 – that makes it basically like real-life Rocky Balboa. What’s even better is that he may be the oldest competitive fighter in any sport (the article I read didn’t make it very clear… (I rock at journalism)). Either way… cool. And what makes it even cooler is how brave it is – if he loses Jean Claude will lose a lot of respect from a lot of people who haven’t seen Rocky 1 or 6 (and thus don’t know that it’s not about winning). Either way – massive respect from me. He said of the matter ‘It’s kind of dangerous, but life is short’. I’m trying not to say ‘a lot shorter now…’. The fight will be happening April 2011. Stay tuned.
In other news re: Jean Claude’s redemption he apparently has said that he now wants to be in Expendables 2! This is despite his saying that the film had no plot. I guess the ticket sales of the first film kind of made up for that?

Yeah it’s true lol… apparently though there was no actual gayness – just him wanking on his own. So that maybe loses him some man points… Sly was in a porno too called ‘The Italian Stallion’ but that was straight so it gains him some!
