Rambo 2 Review

Rambo 1 (which was actually never called Rambo 1, but just ‘First Blood’) was a genuinely good film that was based on a book and everything and demonstrated some of Stallone’s acting credentials. However while that may be the film that would be most likely to win some kind of award, Rambo 2 is by far the better film and is up there with Terminator 2 and Die Hard as one of the best 80s Action films ever made.

The first reason for this is that Stallone is in amazing shape. He is completely ripped – more so that Bruce Lee – it is actually crazy. The second reason is the line ‘Murdock… I’m coming to get you!’ which cues the amazing soundtrack and an amazing bust-out-of-imprisonment scene (does kind of make you wonder why he didn’t do that sooner rather than let himself and the other guy get tortured but whatever…). The third reason is that the film is directed by James Cameron – yes the same dude who did Terminator 2 – so you know it’s going to be good. It also features the most pointless romance in the history of film (‘Rambo you not espendabal!’ BOOM ‘Nooooo!’).

The other reason that you should all bow down to this film is that it pretty much created the 80s. Without it we wouldn’t have Commando or Predator or any other film where a man walks around with his top off and a gun. And if you’ve ever seen the Butterfly effect then you’ll know that that would possible lead to events that brought about the end of the world and we’d all be speaking German (I’m actually cool with that because I’m partGerman). Heil Stallone!

A+

Rambo 2 was in every way inferior to First Blood part 1. It was mindless and cartoonish and totally diminshed the character of Rambo from the first one! No wonder it has been parodied umpteen times. The last Rambo film kinda made up for it, but that’s not saying much.

No way! It was a very different animal but still awesomely cool. It pretty much invented the genre! Cameron and Sly work awesomely together and it has the line ‘Murdock… I’m coming to get you!’. Class.
